Support across borders

Vienna is home to people from all over the world.

Whether your loved one needs to be brought to Austria or transported abroad, we take care of every official step along the way.

Coming home to Austria

If a loved one has passed away somewhere else in the world, the Austrian embassy or consulate there typically contacts the family first. From that point, we take over: coordinating with local authorities and a funeral director at the place of death, to bring your loved one back to Vienna.

Returning to another country

If your loved one passed away here in Austria and your family wants them brought home, we organize the transport and every piece of paperwork — coordination on both ends, handled for you.

  • Repatriation to Austria, from anywhere in the world
  • Repatriation from Austria to another country
  • Direct coordination with Austrian embassies and consulates
  • Guidance on the documents required for foreign nationals

The baba Pre-Arrangement

Give the people you love one less decision to make.

Thinking about your own mortality is not easy, let alone talking about it with your family. But when the moment comes, the people left behind face grief, decisions and costs — often within days. In a free, no-obligation conversation, we explain every official requirement and every option available, so your farewell can be arranged exactly as you wish.

Added security

Your funds are held separately and do not become part of your estate, and used exclusively for the funeral costs you have specified. Every detail is set out in a binding written agreement that remains in force beyond your lifetime. Ask us about setting up a protected deposit account for extra peace of mind.

We can advise you on every form of pre-arrangement, free of charge and with no obligation. A baba Pre-Arrangement does more than record your wishes: it also makes the process considerably easier for the people you leave behind.

What we set out in writing

  • The type of funeral and ceremony you want
  • Music, flowers, and any personal touches
  • How your funds are held and protected
  • That contact person will always need to reach out to us first — we are never notified automatically when someone passes away

Common questions

Frequently asked questions

It depends on the type of funeral. Prices range from €1,835 for keeping the urn at home — our most affordable option — to around €3,900 for a tree burial. Every price is fixed and shown upfront in our Services section; we will always talk you through what fits your budget.

Vienna has 55 cemeteries for earth and urn burials. Cremations usually take place at the Feuerhalle Simmering. If you would like something different — keeping the urn at home, a tree burial, or laying ashes in the Danube — we can arrange all of these affordably too.

It depends on the type of funeral, but the ceremony usually takes place within one to three weeks. We handle all the official steps and organisation in between, so you do not have to.

No. We handle the registration with the civil registry office for you, and you will receive the death certificate once it is issued.

Whatever feels right to you — clothing they loved, or simply felt comfortable in (including underwear and socks; only shoes are not permitted). We can also provide funeral clothing if you prefer. You are welcome to bring it with you, or hand it over when we collect your loved one.

We handle both directions — bringing a loved one home to Austria, or arranging transport to another country — including all coordination with embassies, consulates and local authorities. See our International Support section above.

You decide, in advance, exactly how your farewell should look, and set the funds aside separately so your family never has to guess or cover the cost themselves. Everything is written into a binding agreement. Book a free consultation, and together we will find the pre-arrangement that suits you.

Yes. Vienna's psychosocial crisis service (PSD) offers support around the clock, in person or by phone, at (01) 313 30.
